World Hindi Day is observed every year on January 10 to mark the anniversary of the first World Hindi Conference that was held in the year 1975. In the year 2006, the first World Hindi Day was celebrated with pride and enthusiasm. The Day is celebrated as World Hindi Day with the objective to create a suitable environment and promote the Hindi language globally.

World Hindi Day 2020: Important Facts

The World Hindi Day aims to create awareness and introduce Hindi as an international language. The Day builds the atmosphere for Hindi language where everyone can understand its importance and acknowledge the language on the global platform. Hindi is said to be the Indian cultural language that binds every person with thousand years old tradition. The language is steadily getting acceptance from all over the world. Meanwhile, in the year 2017, Oxford Dictionary included Hindi words such as ‘Bacha’, ‘Surya’ ‘Namaskar’, ‘Bada Din’ and ‘Acha’.

Talking more about this age-old cultural and traditional language, Hindi is among the five most spoken languages of the world. The first is Mandarin Language of China. Since the year 1975, the World Hindi Conference has been celebrated in various countries including India, USA, UK and Mauritius.

The World Hindi Day is also celebrated worldwide in Indian embassies where special events are organized. Further, cultural programs are traditional shows are also organized at various government offices on this day to promote the importance of Hindi Language.

The World Hindi Day should not be confused with Hindi Day (Hindi Diwas). Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on September 14. This day is celebrated as Hindi Diwas as on this day, in the year 1949, the constituent assembly adopted Hindi as the official language. The World Hindi Day is observed every year to bring this message forward and promote Hindi language across the globe.
