World Sight Day: Eye donation camp to be held in Delhi, Chandigarh to conduct 'Blind Walk'

New Delhi is set to organize the largest eye donation campaign in the world, Blind Walk on World Sight Day on Thursday. It will be conducted on 12 October at 3 PM in Connaught Place.

The Bangalore-based ‘Project Vision’ will conduct the campaign in 250 locations across five countries. Nearly 1,00,000 sighted persons will walk blindfolded and would be led by visually-challenged people.

Minister of state for Tourism Alphonse Kannanthanam will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with Chetanalaya, Holy Family Hospital, Prabhat Seva, YMCA, Volunteers for the Blind Foundation, Eye Bank Association of India, Catholic Health Association of India, Society for Social Development for Northern Region, etc.

Chandigarh based Dialogue Highway Trust too has collaborated with The Project Vision to express solidarity with visually impaired persons.

A first of its kind blind walk will be held at Plaza, Sector 17 on Thursday evening. Punjab's cabinet minister, Navjot Singh Sidhu will flag off the walk.
