New Delhi:

The Rs 2,980 crore-project was set into motion five years ago, when Narendra Modi, then the chief minister of Gujarat, had laid the foundation stone in the month of October in 2013. Now, the massive icon is on the verge of completion in Gujarat, said sources.

Upon its completion, this towering statue which is standing as high as 597 feet tall, will become the world’s tallest statue.

At present, China’s Spring Temple Buddha in Henan is world’s tallest statue with 128 metres high. And beating this record is definitely not a ‘simple feat’.

The state of art is said to be one of the pet projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and on completion, it is expected to boost tourism sector in the western-most state.

Once completed, the massive steel and bronze statue, which was initiated in 2013 will be nearly twice as tall as New York’s Statue of Liberty.
