Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav visited Raj Bhawan in Lucknow on Wednesday to meet governor Ram Naik amid the latest round of sackings in the ruling Samajwadi Party and a bitter power tussle in the famous Yadav clan that has pushed it to the brink of a split.
Speculations are rife that the meet could result in a cabinet reshuffle ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Akhilesh's visit comes a day after party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav attempted a patch-up between his son and brother Shivpal Yadav.
During a press conference in Lucknow, Mulayam had claimed that all is well in the party and his family.
However, the rift refused to die down on Wednesday after the party expelled Pawan following his spat with MLC Ashu Malik.
