Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav broke down on Monday while addressing the crucial meet called by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to find a solution to the escalating rift among the party stakeholders.
An emotional Akhilesh said that he would have readily resigned from CM's post had 'Netaji' (Mulayam) asked him to do.
Indicating towards a 'definite conspiracy' within the party, Akhilesh spoke on the issues ranging from tainted minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati to his differences with Amar Singh.
"I was hurt when Amar Singh said that by November Akhilesh will not remain the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Along with running an efficient government, it is my responsibility to weed out conspirators from the party" Akhilesh said.
Akhilesh also denied claims that he was planning to form a new party ahead of the assembly elections.
