'Had I been a candidate, he would not have been considered for post'

New Delhi:

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha hit back at finance minister Arun Jaitley for the latter’s stinging remark where he dubbed the former as a ”job applicant at 80”. Sinha said:"Had I been a candidate, he would not have been given the post."

In an exclusive interview to Indian Express, Sinha maintained his stand and pulled up the government for heaping praise for themselves. He said the NDA government has completely misread the situation on the economic front.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had termed Sinha a job applicant at 80 years, saying that the latter has forgotten his record as finance minister and is commenting on persons rather than policies.

He had accused Sinha of acting in tandem with senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram, forgetting the harsh words the two had used for each other.
