Yoga guru Baba Ramdev will soon have a wax statue at the Madame Tussauds and will donate his iconic saffron robe and a pair of his shoes to be used for his wax figure, sources said.

The co-founder of the Patanjali Ayurved Limited announced in Twitter that his waxed statue will be installed at the Madame Tussauds.

“First time the statue of a Yogi be installed at @MadameTussauds museum. This will further add to the glory of the science of Yoga and will motivate people across the globe to adopt a Yogic lifestyle,” Ramdev tweeted. 

Ramdev on Monday visited Madame Tussauds in London where a team of experts took over 200 specific measurements, as well as photographs to create an authentic likeness.

“I am extremely pleased to be chosen by Madame Tussauds Delhi. The team is supremely talented; they were dedicated throughout the sitting experience. They have motivated me to keep inspiring and delivering the best to my followers. I am very much looking forward to seeing the finished figure,” Ramdev said.

The Yoga guru will be seen striking the ‘Vrikshasana’ (tree posture) yoga pose.

“Yoga guru and the tycoon of Indian Ayurveda industry, baba Ramdev is set to be immortalised with his very own figure at Madame Tussauds Delhi. The incredibly detailed figure will be displayed among other iconic celebrities in a fun and interactive zone for audiences to take selfies, strike a pose with the Yoga guru. Known for his splendid work in Ayurveda, business and agriculture, he had build a huge fan base across globe,” Madame Tussauds said in a press release.

Expressing his excitement over the decision, Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd General Manager and Director Anshul Jain said would be thrilling to watch his fans pose and interact around his figure.

“We are excited to announce Baba Ramdev’s figure. He has immensely contributed to the society by promoting yoga, introducing the culture of Ayurveda and developing enthusiasm among all for a healthy living. It will be thrilling to watch his fans pose and interact around his incredible figure at the attraction,” Jain said.

The Delhi attraction of Madame Tussauds, housed in the historic Regal building, opened in December 2017, features around 51 life-like wax figures from different walks of life—history, sports, music, film and politics, including Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tedulkar, Tom Cruise, Samlan Khan, Mary Kom among others.
