There is a need to carry out a massive plantation drive on the banks of Yamuna, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said. He reiterated the state government’s commitment for the cleaning of the river.

The plantation of Neem, Peepal, Banyan or medicinal plants on both side of the river would pave way for a clean Yamuna, the chief minister said during an event in Vrindavan.

The discharge of garbage and drainwater into the river was being stopped by the construction of a treatment plant, Adityanath said.

More water would be discharged into Yamuna from Hathini Kund, he added.

Cancelling 15 holidays, the state had added Rs 7,000 crore to state’s GDP which was Rs 18 lakh crore, the chief minsiter said.

He said instead the state government had decided to include chapters on Valmiki, B R Ambedkar among others in whose memory the holidays were being observed as it would enrich people’s knowledge.

He stressed on developing Goverdhan, Vrindaban, Barsana, Baldeo, Gokul and Nandgaon.

Meditation was not only spiritually important but was also useful for its physical aspect, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at the event.

Moreover, Yoga guru Ramdev stressed on the need for cooperation of people for development of the country, saying that government cannot do everything.

He also stressed on his commitment to replace foreign goods by Indian goods.
