Youth Congress online magazine deletes derogatory tweet against PM Modi after brouhaha

(ANI)

The Indian Youth Congress's online magazine “Yuva Desh” on Tuesday posted a ‘derogatory’ tweet targeting PM Narendra Modi which was later deleted.

Yuva Desh had tweeted a picture of Prime Minister Modi in conversation with the United States President Donald Trump and the UK Prime Minister Theresa May.

Reacting sharply to the tweet and its deletion official spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Yuva Desh, first posts a derogatory tweet about the Prime Minister and then deletes it but the damage has already been done. This clearly shows the feudal mindset of Congress.”

Sambit Patra, another prominent face of BJP said, “The nation saw the impact of 'Maut Ka Saudagar' jibe and Mani Shankar Aiyar's abuses in 2014, a similar impact will be seen now. Congress has not only insulted the PM but also 6 crore Gujaratis and 1.25 billion Indians.”

Tajinder Bagga, spokesperson of the Delhi Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party said “Just because Modi ji comes from a poor family and he used to sell tea, will you insult him? This is an insult to all hard working poor people. Also, a mistake happens once not twice. First, in 2014 MS Aiyar said this and now Yuva Desh,”.

The run-up to the Gujarat Assembly polls has witnessed political slugfest between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party with both trying to outdo the other.

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had, in January 2014, said "Modi would never become prime minister, but he was welcome to serve tea to Congressmen."
