In view of coronavirus outbreak, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said on Sunday said that there will be complete lockdown in Telangana till March 31 as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of deadly virus COVID-19. The decision in this regard was taken by chief minister after chairing a high-level meeting today as the total number of coronavirus positive cases has gone up to 26.
“We should show the same spirit as we did today (Janta curfew) till March 31, we will be able to stop the spread of the disease. Telangana will be under lockdown till March 31," he said.
All inter-state borders will closed and only vehicles carrying essential goods such as medicines will be allowed entry into the state, he said. He requested people to confine to their homes during the lockdown period.
The decision came on a day when the state is observing a 24-hour shutdown. Backing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Janata Curfew' call, Rao extended it by 10 hours.
Meanwhile, the Government of Indian has decided to completely shutdown75 districts across the country where coronavirus cases have been reported, Union Health Ministry officials said on Sunday. The officials asked all the state government to ensure that the poor don't face problems in these districts during lockdown. The decisions have been taken at a high-level meeting attended by chief secretaries of all states and the cabinet secretary and the principal secretary to the prime minister.

In view of the need to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19, it was agreed that there was an urgent need to extend the restrictions on the movement of non-essential passenger transport, including interstate transport buses till March 31, a Union Home Ministry official said.
