In a major road accident in Hyderabad, a car fell down from a flyover on Saturday killing a woman and injuring six others. The car skidded off the Biodiversity flyover and landed on another car. The flyover has a steep turn and driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while speeding. He survived due to airbags deployed in the vehicle. The incident took place at 1 pm on the Biodiversity junction. Several lakh vehicles pass through it every day. The passerby alerted the police and shifted the injured to hospital.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor has announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs to kin of the woman who died in the accident and medical assistance to the victims who received injuries. The flyover at Biodiversity Junction has been closed for three days.
The flyover is a part of Telangana government’s Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) and it was constructed at a cost of Rs 69.47 crore. Another flyover is also being constructed which will lead commuters to Tolichowki and Mehdipatnam skipping Biodiversity junction. The flyover has been temporarily closed down after the accident.
However, this is not the first accident on this flyover as earlier also a major accident took place on the flyover since its inauguration on November 4 earlier this year.
