New Delhi:

A criminal case has been registered against the relatives of a coronavirus patient, who died due to comorbidities, for attacking a doctor of the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

It is to be noted that following the death of a 56-year-old, two male and one female relative of the patient, who were also admitted in the hospital after being found COVID-19 positive, attacked a resident doctor. The relatives of the deceased patient also damaged hospital property and even broke the windows.

“The doctors had kept the family members updated about the man’s condition and they were informed that he was in a very critical condition even two days back. They had gotten a bit aggressive at that time itself and we did ask for additional security to be provided but it wasn’t provided. He developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) following which he died,” The News Minute quoted a doctor from the Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) as saying.

“Unfortunately, the COVID-19 positive patient passed away on Wednesday evening and the resident doctor was attacked by his brother, who was also in the ward. All the healthcare workers at Gandhi Hospital are working under immense pressure since the outbreak of Coronavirus. This incident has upset the community of healthcare workers,” Telengana Today quoted Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital Dr P Sravan Kumar as saying.
