Karnataka Police on Monday released the photographs of the suspect who kept a bag with explosive at Mangaluru airport and the autorickshaw he was seen leaving in. In the photograph, the suspect is seen walking with his face concealed. He later left in an autorickshaw. Earlier in the day, a suspicious bag was found at Mangaluru Airport.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) DIG Anil Pandey said that according to the CCTV footage the suspect kept the bag at the Mangaluru Airport and left in an autorickshaw. However, the airport security detected the object timely and averted what could have been a tragic incident.
"According to CCTV footage, a suspect kept the bag at Mangaluru airport and was seen leaving in auto while concealing face. Suspected object was detected timely and local bomb disposal team is working on its disposal," Pandey said.

After the initial inspection of the bag, the bomb squad has found traces of Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The bag of explosive was planted at the ticket counter at Mangaluru airport and the bomb disposal team safely removed it from the area.
"We have found traces of Improvised explosive device (IED) from a bag lying at ticket counter at Mangaluru airport, we have safely evacuated it," the CISF DIG added.
