Ramesh, a personal assistant of Karnataka’s former deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, has allegedly committed suicide on Saturday afternoon. His body was found hanging on a tree in the Jnana Bharathi Campus of Bangalore University.
It is to be noted that the incident happened just two days after the Income Tax Department conducted raids against G Parameshwara and others. During raids, about Rs 5 crore cash was seized from various premises that were searched. The raids were in connection with a multi-crore tax evasion case linked to the NEET exams.
Soon after the incident came in light, the IT Department official told News Nation that they did not question Ramesh during the raid. “We have not questioned Ramesh, PA of G Parameshwara during raids. He was with Parameshwara during raids but we didn't need to question him, even gave him the option to leave the house but he chose to stay with Parameshwara,” The IT Department said.
G Parameshwara said, "He was a very good boy. He was with me since I was Congress party president. He used to work diligently no matter what the circumstance. I don't know why he has taken such a drastic step. Even in the morning, when he left my house, I told him not to worry about these raids and that nothing would happen to him. I can't believe that he has taken such a step. I don't know if he was under any pressure."
Ramesh hailed from Mellehalli in Ramanagar.
