Student Commits Suicide After Failing To Cope Up With English Language

New Delhi:

A teenage girl from Jharkhand who was pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree course in Nutrition and Dietetics from a private college in Trichy committed suicide in her hostel room. She committed suicide allegedly because she was unable to follow and cope up with the English language. According to reports, Jaffra Parvin was a 19-year-old girl from Jharkhand, the deceased, who passed out from a Hindi medium school and was finding it difficult to cope with English medium education curriculum in the college. Meanwhile, the police think that her poor performance in the recent examination is the reason behind her suicide.

Jaffra locked herself in the hostel room on Wednesday when her roommates were in the common room. After a while, when she didn’t respond to their calls, her roommates looked through the window to find her hanging. The Police say that she was among 5 girl students from Jharkhand who got admission to a private college in Trichy under a special scholarship.

According to reports, all the girls from Jharkhand who got admission under special scholarship programme are from Hindi Medium schools and found it tough to cope with the pace of English medium in the classes. However, all the girls except Jaffra dropped out from the college.
