New Delhi:

Beetroot or beet can do more than just being a nutritious, healthy goodness. Since last year, trying on the natural look such as the no make-up look has been all the rage for makeup lovers. So, why not go natural itself? Beetroot is filled with beauty nutrients such as anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging properties which you can benefit from.

With these beetroot DIY’s, you can give your skin some rest from the chemical exposure by going natural itself:

  1. Beetroot juice for the lip and cheek stain: The flush of red to the lips and cheeks can give a healthy, natural appearance. So, instead of the pretty-penny blush and lipstick, you can go cheap and healthy instead. Puree the beetroot in a juicer and then mix the juice with a base oil, preferably coconut oil and a lemon to help preserve the colour. Transfer the contents to a pocket container and you have your natural lip and cheek stain that will last for hours!
  2. Beetroot as a face mask: Who doesn’t want a healthy, radiant and glowing skin? Beetroots are high in antioxidants. They can help deal with common skin issues such as acne and fine lines. Mix beetroot powder with other beauty ingredients such as coconut oil, honey, or oatmeal to get your own face mask depending on your skin type. Although, remember not to keep it applied for too long because you wouldn’t want to walk around with a pink face.
  3. Beetroot as a natural hair dye: Are you a fan of Blake Lively’s Red fiery red hair in A Simple Favor but too scared to try taking the risk? No worries, you can give a red tint to your hair minus the risks, the chemicals and the damages. Simply add boiling water to the beetroot powder and apply it on your hair. You can add more powder to get a more intense red. Leave it for a few hours and you have the red-hued hair look for the fall you’ve always wanted to try.

Extra tips- You can use beet root juice as a healing scalp mask by simply leaving it on to the hair. The carotenoids found in beetroots can help the hair in growth and thickness. Or you can simply drink the juice to avail its benefits both inside and out.
