Disha Patani disables comments (Photo: Facebook)
Disha Patani’s Indo-western, Diwali outfit didn’t go well for some fashion-polices. During the Diwali week, the Bollywood diva posted a picture of her on Instagram in an ‘all-different’ set of attire. The Baaghi actor was seen donning a pastel embellished lehenga skirt and complementary dupatta with a white Calvin Klein bralette, looking absolutely gorgeous with a modern twist.
The latter piece of outfit, however created quite a furore to some forcing her to disable her comment sections on her Instagram profile. One user wrote,’’ "Don't disrespect our Indian tradition on Diwali," while another said, "Don't destroy the simplicity of Indian clothes’’. To those who think her outfit is offensive go back to your history book! The so-called blouses that you now wear under the saree is another name for a bralette.
While the fashion-polices are asking you to pull your dupatta or pallu a little higher because your midriff decided to say hello to the guests, Indian women according to history once roamed without anything underneath.

Till the Victorian era, most women did not wear blouses under their saris - they wore it bare-breasted. Shirts, sweaters and high-necked Victorian blouses, much like today’s boho-fashion trends, came to be worn under the sari as part of high fashion.
And today, we talk of the ‘borrowed culture’ as our culture and continue to bombard people who expresses their freedom of choice. The trolling of people especially those in the limelight are no less a victim than any others, in this case Disha Patani.
Disha was also trolled for wearing a similar white dress by Daisy
This has sadly not been her first face-off with online trolling nor will be her last. Recently, the 26-year-old actor was also trolled for wearing a similar white dress by Daisy which accidentally happened to look like the one Janhvi Kapoor donned on a day out. The Instagram police went on to call the actor’s outfit ‘fake’ while many also retorted back to the user with ‘reality’.
