Ed Sheeran, the modern Orpheus, need no tuxedo suit to better his voice. Despite being one of the most loved singers, fans often see him in his stripe lumberjack shirt, a Sheldon Cooper-like tee with khaki pants and the perfect voice. However, this time, for some audience his down-to-earth sartorial choice didn’t sit right with his rank, especially when performing alongside the pop queen, Beyoncé.

Ed Sheeran, who appeared in a duet with Beyoncé, at the Global Citizen Festival in South Africa's Johannesburg on Sunday, was bashed for dressing like a plain-soup alongside the fluttery and embellished Beyoncé. The duo had come together for a duet but the fashion police were quick to criticise the Perfect singer’s choice of black t-shirt and sneakers on stage, while Beyonce, opted for an extravagant pink gown with ruffles.

Ed, however, seemed unabashed by all the hurtful remarks and instead took the incident to expose his funny side. He wrote, 
"Swipe up to ‘get the look," alongside the cheeky hashtag, #dresstoimpress.

The 27-year-old-singer also acknowledged the clashing looks, and joked about where to find more of his "amazing fashion choices". This incident has sparked hilarious memes of the pair during the performance and a real conversation about male privilege.

One Twitter user wrote, "Ed Sheeran is a 27-year-old man the fact we've enabled him to feel it's ok to dress like this at all, let alone next to Beyonce really boils my piss,". 

Another pointed to the disparity of gender expectations in the music industry saying, "This photo is representative of what we expect from men and women at the top of their game, isn't it?"

As Twitter debated his wardrobe choice, Sheeran fans also pointed out the to the fact that he regularly performs in similar looks on stage.
