When Keanu Reeves introduced Girlfriend Alexandra Grant to the world, her gray hair made a distinct appreance making many to even mistook the artist for actor Helen Mirren who also happens to gloriously sports a gray hair. While in the beauty world, dyeing gray, metallic hair to have a somewhat elf-like resemblance is the trend, Alexandra Grant, who chooses to keep her natural gary hair has a reason of her own.
In an Instagram Post on Wednesday, Grant, 46, shared an article by Newsweek that details the cons of dyeing permanent hair dye and chemical hair straighteners and how it can up the risk of breast cancer in women.
Giving a answer to those seeking answers as to why she keeps to choose her gary colour, the artist shared,
“Wow. Today’s news…” she began her caption. “The numbers are staggering, especially for womxn of color.”
“I went gray prematurely in my early 20’s… and dyed my hair every color along the way until I couldn’t tolerate the toxicity of the dyes any more,” Grant went on to explain. “In my 30’s I let my hair turn ‘blonde.’
The artist concluded her caption: “I love and support that every womxn can choose how she wants to look at every age. But/and, if womxn are perishing from beauty standards… then let’s talk about those beauty standards. Love to all womxn!” (“Womxn” is an intersectional term that is meant to be more inclusive of transgender women, non-binary individuals and women of color.)
Keanu and Grant and Reeves publicly came out as a couple last month after years of working together. The duo attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala and walked the red carpet holding hands as a couple.
