Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar of India crowned Vanessa Ponce De Leon from Mexico as the winner at the 68th edition of the prestigious Miss World pageant held at Sanya, China. Nicolene Pichapa from Thailand stood with runner-up position at the same pageant. The Miss World 2018 pageant was one of the most anticipated events in the glamour world.
The grand finale began with a mesmerising dance performance sung by UK star Donel Mangena. After that, Dances of the World segment was contested in which the finalists showcased the different culture of the country in the most unique manner. Megan Young, Barney Walsh, Angela Chow, Fernando Allende, and Stephanie Del Valle, hosted the finale to the most awaited pageant.
Thereafter these sub-contest winners were tracked into the Top 30 of the pageant. The top 30 included contestants from Thailand, Mauritius, Venezuela, Uganda, Singapore, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, India, Bangladesh, France, Japan, United States, New Zealand, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Cook Islands, Belarus, Belgium, Northern Ireland, Russia, Scotland, Nigeria, South Africa, Panama, Barbados, Jamaica, and Martinique.
The next round witnessed the International Award winning singing sensation Dimash rocking the spectrum with his fabulous singing skills. Now the top 30 were to be narrowed down to Top 12. This was decided based on continents. From Europe, it was Belarus, France and Scotland, while from the Caribbean it was Jamaica and Martinique. From America, it was Mexico and Panama who made the cut and Mauritius and Uganda were selected from Africa. From Asia and Oceania, it was Nepal, New Zealand, and Thailand who made it to the Top 12.
After categorising the contestants, the host of the evening announced the Miss World continental winners. The Top 5 winners were – Belarus – Miss World Europe, Jamaica – Miss World Carribbean, Mexico – Miss World America, Uganda – Miss World Africa, and Thailand – Miss World Asia and Oceania.

The next phase of the pageant was the question and answers round. One last musical performance by Sister Sledge who sung their 1979 hit song ‘We Are Family’, added more stars to the finale evening. The Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar took the centre stage for one last time, before the announcement of next Miss World. Manushi became quite emotional while narrating her journey and described her reign as fulfilling, learning experience. From girl next door to glam queen, Manushi has inspired millions of girls worldwide through her journey. The beautiful lady stands as a true hero who has motivated many young minds of India to dream, and made them believe that if the intent is righteous, the focus unshakable, the world is your oyster.
