Nike’s new basketball shoes do more than just give you comfort, support ankle or provide a snug fit, they are technology smart too. On Tuesday, Nike gave viewers the first look of their first self-lacing basketball shoes and they are definitely shoes of the FUTURE.  The Adapt BB which is an Beaverton, Oregon-based company is priced at $350, and they do more than just lace itself. Using the power lacing system called Fit Adapt, users can adjust to find the perfect fit whether it's manually or digitally, using the Nike Adapt mobile app.

Athletes will be able to update and evolve their shoes with upgrades, new features and services all through smartphone technology inside their footwear," said Michael Donaghu, Nike's vice president of innovation.

For shoe-lovers, this new smartphone shoe opens a new world of smart data insights into athletes' workouts, representing a whole new outlook of how athletes interact with sneakers.

"We are moving from fit to firmware," said Donaghu.

Nike researchers said the Nike Adapt BB is the most tested shoe in its history. They also added that they came up with this new smart-shoe cum sports shoe because of the demand’s basketball players put on their shoes with fast cuts and constant sprints. The shoe's technology can be updated through the app, meaning its capabilities can change after it's purchased. The Beaverton, Oregon-based company plans to release more products with the Adapt technology, including running shoes, sportswear and lifestyle items.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum said he's most impressed by how the shoe fits. "I try to tell people that it fits l like a glove. It's better than laces. There's no movement in there and it's very secure," Tatum told CNBC.

"I love the fact that it's one of a kind ... my favorite part is just changing the colors. You can customize it to be your own shoe in a way and I think that's the coolest part for me," he added.

Just like all technology-smart items, this new shoe comes new shoe will also require charging after every 10-14 days via a charging pad that comes with the shoes. While the shoes work also without a phone, a smartphone is required to get that perfect fit and customization.
