Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent annoucement of forming a corpus to help fight the coronavirus pandemic and help the distressed has made several celebrities come out in support with their share of contribution to the fund.
Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has pledged to contribute Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore) to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and since he operates out of West Bengal an additional Rs 5 million (Rs 50 lakhs) to the West Bengal CM’s Relief Fund.
Taking to Instagram Sabyasachi wrote that he has already secured his employees and now is making the contribution with the expectation that the money is used to ramp up medical facilities in the country.
“I don’t normally like to speak about anything that doesn’t directly pertain to my work, especially related to financial matters, because there are personal aspects of our lives. However, this moment calls for new strategies and a collective effort, so I believe it’s important to communicate this.” said his post as he pledges the amount.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has committed to Contribute Rs 25 crore , Varun Dhawan Rs 50 Lakh and Ratan Tata a whopping Rs 500 crore for the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund.
Modi on Saturday took to Twitter and urged his fellow Indians to contribute to the PM-CARES Fund. He further added that the fund will also cater to similar distressing situations if they occur in the times ahead. "Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund has been constituted. This will go a long way in creating a healthier India.
