Bengal's famous 'Nolen Gur' now available in tubes

Bengal’s famous Nolen Gur is now available in various size tubes. Under Chief Mamata Banerjee's 'Biswa Bangla' Project the famous dessert staple has now taken new packaging.

Nolen Gur is date palm jaggery and preserving it in the right form is an absolute challenge. According to report, the Bengal government reached out to Indian Institute of Packaging for increasing the shelf life of Bengal’s best kept secret.

The Biswa Banla website also states that the packaging has been done in a way to make it last longer than before, thereby increasing its shelf life.

But this new packing of the jaggery has divided the Bengalis into two. The conformists are not too much happy with this idea of commercialisation, on the other hand, others are very happy as the gur would now be able to be shipped easily.

Microblogging website Twitter also busted with mixed responses of people over the Nolen Gur tubes.
