New Delhi:

The air quality in Delhi NCR seems to have improved during last two months as there has been no high pollution day recorded between February and March.

Well a study by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) has found that in the past two weeks has experienced cleaner air than Mumbai.

On Monday, according to the SAFAR data, the air quality index (AQI) in Mumbai was 312, while an overall AQI of 105 was recorded in Delhi.

20% of the days in Mumbai had ‘very poor’ air quality between February 27 and March 13, 2017 while in Delhi and Pune, there were no poor quality air days.

On the contrary, Delhi witnessed 40% ‘satisfactory’ air quality, while in Mumbai it was only 13%. Pune city recorded 47% ‘satisfactory’.

But the increase of air pollution in Mumbai was a matter of concern. The improvement in Delhi’s air was good as the high levels of pollutants caused serious health risks.

In November 2016 post Diwali celebrations, Delhi witnessed the worst spell of smog in 17 years with the air pollution spiking far beyond acceptable levels.
