A cure for cancer might emerge in coming years through the roots of Ayurveda.

Union Minister of State for Ayush, Shripad Naik during inauguration of a public event in the state-capital said that research in ayruveda had brought researchers near to a treatment for cancer, which was on the lines of chemotherapy.

"Research is on along with American scientists to find a cure for cancer and even they have begun to accept ayurveda. On completion of the research, in the appropriate way, we will find and prepare the medicine for major diseases. A cure for cancer will come", Naik said.

Earlier on March 26, 2016 during a function at Goa Naik claimed that cure for diseases such as diabetes and cancer was attainable by yoga as per the developments made by Bengaluru-based Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA).

Talking to reporters, Naik said that his ministry had set itself a target to establish an Ayush center in every district in order to promote some of India's ancient medicinal practices.
