Bald men, are you still thinking of undergoing a hair-transplant or getting the serum for hair growth? You better chuck the idea because a new study looks all shiny for men with shiny head. Have you seen the crew of Fast and Furious, Jason Statham or Zinedine Zidane for that matter? While many men try to prevent hair loss as they get older, a study reveals that bald men may actually be sexier to women.
The research found that hairless men tops the ranking of attractiveness, and appear more confident and dominant to the opposite sex. And this study is not without answers by the women themselves. To find out the attractiveness of bald men, the University of Pennsylvania asked male and female students to rate photos of men where they were each given a picture to judge based on three categories - attractiveness, confidence and dominance. The overall result found out that bald men were in the winning side of the three categories.
Participants consistently rated natural bald men, and those who had their scalps digitally enhanced to be bald for the study, as stronger than those with thick or thinning hair. The finding also showed that baldness was found to make the men appear taller.
The study according to The Sun wrote, “Namely, the men were viewed as nearly an inch taller and 13 per cent stronger when pictured with shaved heads versus with hair.
“Because only their hair was altered in these photographs, other factors cannot account for these differences.”
The study concluded, "Instead of spending billions each year trying to reverse or cure their hair loss, the counterintuitive prescription of this research to men experiencing male pattern baldness is to shave their heads.
"The results of these comparisons should shed light on whether men with thinning hair can alter their interpersonal standing by shaving their heads."
The study also concluded that perceiving bald men as more dominant means they “will fare better economically in negotiations.”
