New Delhi:

Drinking coffee regularly may reduce the risk of liver cancer and cirrhosis, according to the latest report.

According to a report presented at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, the risk of liver cancer can be reduced with up to a 40 per cent with coffee consumption as compared to no coffee consumption, although this appears to be a dose-dependent relationship.

Also, that reduced risk is measured between 25 percent and 70 percent for cirrhosis.

Graeme Alexander, from the University College London in the UK, said, "Liver disease is on the rise and it is important that we understand how coffee, one of the most popular drinks in the world, and diet affect the disease", said.

"Research suggests that coffee may reduce the risk of liver diseases and it is important patients have access to dietary information and advice from healthcare professionals in a manner that is easy for them to understand and act upon", he further added.
