New Delhi:

The latest study has discovered an effective solution to digestive problems as it reveals that broccoli may help improve your gut health.

The research that was published in the Journal of Functional Foods suggests that vegetables like broccoli, brussels sprouts and cabbage contain an organic chemical compound that further maintains a healthy gut flora and immune surveillance.

The researchers performed the study on mice, which revealed that when mice consumed broccoli with their regular diet that mice were better able to tolerate digestive issues similar to symptoms of leaky gut and colitis than those without it.

Study author Gary Perdew from Penn State University, U.S. said: "There are a lot of reasons we want to explore helping with gastrointestinal health and one reason is if you have problems such as a leaky gut, and start to suffer inflammation, that may then lead to other conditions, like arthritis and heart disease."
