A fourteen-month-old boy in Gujarat became the youngest organ donor in the state, giving life to a three-year old girl and a fifteen-year-old boy. As per reports, Somnath Shah was declared brain dead after he suffered serious head injuries on September 2.
The boy's family agreed to donate his organs and his heart was transplanted into Aaradhya Mule from Navi Mumbai, who had been suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy.
“Finding a small heart for transplant was very difficult. But thanks to the youngest cadaver donor from Surat, Somnath, Aaradhya's life has been saved,” Dr Anvay Mule, chief cardiac surgeon at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai, who carried out the heart transplant, was quoted as saying by a TOI report.
It is reported that Somnath’s kidneys are transplanted in a 15-year-old from Deesa in Banaskantha, Gujarat on Tuesday.
