Monsoon brings rains and respite to the people from the sweltering heat. However, Monsoon comes with a host of unwelcome guests along with it. Therefore, a word of caution is necessary. With Monsoon comes the risk of waterborne diseases and infections.
Follow these simple health tips to enjoy a healthier Monsoon:
Eat healthy foods:
To keep stomach infections at bay, it is important to make healthier food choices. Eating a healthy diet will help boost your immune system and prevent falling ill.
It is advisable to avoid raw vegetables and salads unless they are consumed at home where you can wash and clean them thoroughly.
Avoid eating street food. The chances of germs and infections spreading are higher during the rainy season.
Drink plenty of water:
Water intake may reduce naturally because of the sudden drop in the temperature. We may not be thirsty but our body needs water. So, do not wait to get thirsty to drink water! But make sure to drink boiled water or purified water. This will lower the risks of waterborne diseases like diarrhea and stomach infections.
Do not walk in dirty water:
Maintaining hygiene is very important during rainy season. Avoid walking in dirty water as it is a breeding ground for various viral and bacterial infections.
If your feet get wet, dry them immediately and do not stay in wet socks or shoes. Keep your shoes and socks clean.
Avoid wet walls:
Damp walls are absolute no-no for those suffering from asthma or any other breathing problems. Wet walls are the breeding ground for fungus which is a trigger for asthma.
Take bath after being caught in rain
If you are drenched in rain take a bath when you reach home. This will protect you from infections.
