A 43-year-old man, admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru with suspected H1N1 (swine flu) has died, hospital officials said on Sunday.

A 43-year-old man, admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru with suspected H1N1 (swine flu) has died, hospital officials said on Sunday.

The deceased person has been identified as Lakshminarayana Salian.

Salian was suffering from fever from the past 10 days and was taking treatment at a hospital at Udupi. Later, he was shifted to Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

Blood samples have been sent for testing, hospital officials said, adding, he died on Saturday.

Health department sources said two deaths have been reported due to H1N1 of the four cases reported in Udupi district since January, 2017.

During the same period, five cases had been reported in Dakshina Kannada district, they said.
