Have you ever thought vegetables like onions, leeks and artichokes could help you if you are suffering from sleep deprivation due to stress.

Yes scientists have found that these vegetables help provide relaxation to humans- giving them a better night’s sleep.

These vegetables are high in prebiotics, and dietery fibres that are food for stomach bacteria.

And now a new study has found that these boost gut health by aiding growth of beneficial bugs. They also release metabolic byproducts that influence brain in a manner helping it to overcome fear, according to research.

Experts have belief that the study strengthens the link between gut bacteria and overall health.

Lot has been studied on probiotics which is the living bacteria desgined in order to improve gut health but there is very less study done on probiotics.

In order to test their effects, a team of US scientists fed three-week-old male rats a diet of either standard chow or chow that included prebiotics. Rodents are used in scientific researches as they are very close to humans in terms of genetic and behavioural resemblance to humans.

Those on the prebiotic diet spent more time in non-rapid-eye-movement sleep (NREM), the researchers from University of Colorado Boulder found.

This form is restful and restorative and hence body gets chance to repair itself.
