This is something shocking! Prostate cancer which is the second most common form of cancer, is on the rise in rural belt of India, as per experts.
It is the sixth leading cause of cancer deaths among men all around the world. Health experts have even warned that the number of prostate cancer cases may double by 2020.
Prostate cancer has turned out to be a major health problem across the globe in the past few decades.
As a matter of fact, prostate cancer occurs in a man's prostate, which is a gland in the reproductive system. The walnut-shaped gland produces the seminal vesicle fluid.
Most of the metastatic prostate cancer cases have been reported from rural areas.
Health experts have called for educating the rural masses on the treatment and drugs & technologies available for combating the disease.

Delhi's Safdarjung hospital witnesses over one lakh patients each month from different parts of the country. Out of these, twenty percent of the patients suffer from prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer among Delhi men, as per the Population-Based Cancer Registries. It accounts for about 6.78 percent of all malignancies.
Signs of Prostate cancer
- Frequent urination especially at night
- Pain or burning sensation during urination
- Erectile dysfunction (ED)
- Blood in the semen
- Discomfort while sitting, which is caused by enlarged prostate
- Blood in the urine
- Numbness or pain in the legs, hips or feet
