Dr John Paniker, the president of Indian Medical Association in Thiruvananthapuram district, said on Saturday said that the rise in dengue cases in the country was because of the growing population of the Aides mosquito.

"The summer shower also caused the growth of mosquitoes," Dr. John Paniker told ANI.

Many patients suffering from dengue are seeking treatment in hospitals. The Government General Hospital has thirty- five of its staff afflicted with dengue. There was a death of one of the hospital technicians from dengue. In Kerala, 280 confirmed cases have been reported while 100 dengue cases in the district alone.
