A latest study led by a group of scientists from the Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, has found that stress due to financial crisis could lead to risk of Migraine like disease in certain group of people. Every year a billion of people become the victim of the neurological disease.
Moreover, according to researchers, genetics has a direct relation with Migraine and people with CLOCK gene variant suffer the most.
"The study does not show what causes migraine but it does show that both stress and genetics have an effect. We were able to show that stress - represented by financial hardship - led to an increase in migraine in those who have a particular gene variant," senior author Daniel Baksa was quoted while talking about the same.
The year-long study was conducted on 2,349 patients and showed that financial crunch may up the risk of migraine type headaches in people with a particular gene variant.
While caffeine can ease the headache in early stages, a set of home remedies like butterbur and feverfew may give relief to those sufferers, experts from the American Academy of Neurology suggested.
