'Vampire facials' a facial practiced by celebs like Kim Kardashian has been placed under investigation after two clients at Albuquerque spa, Mexico reportedly contracted HIV. According to reports, two customers at the New Mexico salon last year have been infected with the virus following the procedure. For the unadulterated, Vampire facials which is known as a platelet rich plasma therapies involve extracting the patients' blood, separating the plasma and then re-injecting it into the skin as an anti-aging treatment loved by celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Bar Refaeli and Ferne McCann.

The facial which is completely unregulated has reportedly been confirmed to have transmitted two clients with HIV. The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) confirmed that two clients of the VIP Spa contracted the "same" HIV virus, according to a statement. This finding "increas the likelihood" that the infections resulted from spa treatments involving needles, officials said.

State Attorney General Hector Balderas on Thursday announced that he is officially launching a criminal investigation into the matter. 'I am highly concerned that these procedures are not being regulated at the State and Federal level and am announcing a criminal investigation into this incident,' said Balderas in a Thursday statement’’ he said.

"In addition, I am calling for action by the FDA and State Attorneys General across the nation. We cannot allow more people to fall victim’’ he added.

After the alert was initially raised, 130 more terrified patients came forward to get tested, although only two cases of HIV were confirmed.

In 2013, this bloody facial became more known in the beauty-world when Kim Kardashian posted herself smearing blood all over her face for an an episode of the TV show Kourtney & Kim Take Miami.
