Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan on Friday revealed the “rare disease” he has been suffering from. The actor said that he has been diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour.

Earlier, there were rumours that the Blackmail actor is battling with a life-threatening brain cancer called Gliboblastma Multiforme (GBM) Grade IV.

However, the 51-year-old actor quashed all the rumours and said the tumour has not occured in his brain.

“As for the rumours that were floated NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research,” Khan said.

Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs), the “rare disease” Irrfan Khan has been diagnosed with is a type of a cancer.

NETs, sometimes referred to as Carcinoid is abnormal growth of Neuroendocrine cells which can occur in many parts of the body and grow differently.

According to the Cancer Treatment Centres of America, "many NETs first appear in the lungs or the gastrointestinal tract, including the stomach, pancreas, appendix, intestines, colon and rectum.

NETs may also appear in the thymus, thyroid gland, adrenal gland and pituitary gland."

What are the symptoms of Neuroendocrine Tumours:

Some of the most common symptoms of NETs could be Flushing in the face or neck without sweating, diarrhea, including at night time, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, fatigue, weakness, abdominal pain, cramping, feeling of fullness, unexplained weight gain or loss, wheezing and coughing among others.
