New Delhi:

Ahh the old period woes! From smearing period blood on faces to trying out every possible diy’s there is on YouTube, the length women go to quickly end the 4-5 days of pain is left best understood by women. Of all the quick remedies, one viral measure to end period pain is going viral for all the wrong reasons. As it turns out some naive women are vacuuming their vaginas in an attempt to suck out all the period blood. And we are guessing they apparently must have missed out their biology classes.

The topic of this whole vagina vacuuming all started when a nurse tweeted a shocking tweet pleading women to stop using vacuum hose to try and suck out all the period, "Ladies...please stop using your vacuum hose to end your period early," she wrote. "You’re gonna wind up sucking out a lot more than blood! There were 2 cases of this so far this week, and both women had to be admitted. Just...STOP!", The tweet is reported to have been obtained by cosmo before the nurse’s account went private.

Th even more shocking part-women are believed to have practiced this method since the 1970’s! It is believed to have started when 1970s when women's rights activist, Lorraine Rothman, adapted the abortion method to be used as a way of getting rid of menstrual blood.

Doctors have issued serious health risks involving this method where one inserts the vacuum hose in an attempt to suck out the blood. In fact, two women according to a nurse from Seattle, aged 19 and 23, have been admitted to the hospital where she works this week after they attempted to vacuum their period.

"I don't know if it was Eureka, Dyson, Hoover or some Walmart brand, but yes an actual vacuum cleaner.

"Your period has a steady flow of its own that for all intents and purposes your body can tolerate. A vacuum increases the flow over 1,000 times which your body can't tolerate, therefore sending you into shock’’ the nurse tweeted.

Her posts which have now been hidden from public view has brought up a state of medical urgency to know more about the dangerous risks involved.

"Menstrual bleeding is an active and natural process, it's not just sitting in the uterus in a pool that can be sucked out. Please don't even think about it’’ one user tweeted.

"Thankfully we don't see this often," she continued. "Menstrual extraction via vacuum can definitely send you into shock. It's very real and I have thankfully not seen this happen recently, but I have seen shock happen in similar situations before’’ another wrote.

Periods can get dirty but vacuum cleaning is definitely not one of them!
