New Delhi :

Power naps are good, even during the day time and we all love to take some quick naps during our work. But a new study suggests that those who steal forty winks in the day are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure. After researchers at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN conducted a meta-analysis including data from nine observational studies with 112,267 participants, it was found that seeking midday shut-eye had a 13-19% increase in risk for hypertension.

As opposed to this researchers when looked at the data on the link between night time napping in individuals who work night-shifts and hypertension, the results were limited.

One of the observational study found that night-shift workers who napped at night showed reduced risk of hypertension by 21%. Though we all know that sleep is important and plays a vital role in overall well-being but our lifestyle has to be good enough to keep us healthy and fit.

Hypertension is a growing health problem these days. People suffering from this require lifestyle changes, adding more veggies to diet and enough water intake can help a lot. The study was presented at the 31st Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Society of Hypertension.
