Hachiko, a 2009 Hollywood movie, was a real-life story of a dog waiting for its owner, unaware that the owner had died. The movie, starring Richard Gere and an Akita Dog reopened aspects of a canine’s loyalty. With the powerful performance by Gere and the dog, the movie showed that loyalty can be easily found in our furry, four legged friends. It is said that sometimes animals understand life better because they know what makes them happy. To celebrate the loyalty of Hachiko, a bronze statue was erected next to the Shibuya Train Station in Tokyo where the dog had last said goodbye to its owner.

What is interesting about the two Hachikos are their unknown whereabouts of their two owners. According to reports, this unnamed dog was unaware about his owner’s death in a tragic car accident which took at the same waiting spot. Netizens have now dubbed this canine in Mongolia the modern-day Hachiko because of its unrelenting wait at the railing in the middle of a road for its owner.
According to pedestrians, the dog is believed to have stayed at the side of the road since August 21. Motorists and pedestrians who cross the path have taken notice which have led to growing concern about the dog’s safety given the busy traffic life in Mongolian cities.
Images and videos of this faithful dog have circulated all over social media in the hope that someone might recognize and pick him up. To make matters heart-wrenching, the dog is said to have refused any help from animal lovers who have tried to help him. With winter fast approaching and with the biting snow, the dog’s unremitting stay despite the rain, sun and hunger is proving to be an alarming concern. Netizens are now hoping that the dog can be put in a safe place.
