Chaitra Navaratri 2020: Chaitra Navaratri – a nine-day long festival is celebrated across India with great fervour. During these 9 days, people worship all the nine avatars of Goddess Durga. Chaitra Navaratri – one of the Navaratris including Magha Gupt Navaratri, Sharad Navaratri and Asadha Gupt Navaratri – is celebrated in India in a year. However, only Chaitra Navrati and Sharad Navaratri are important. According to the Gregorian calendar, Chaitra Navaratri falls in the month of March and April. Chaitra Navaratri starts every year from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Tithi and continues till Navami Tithi. This year, Chaitra Navaratri will begin on March 25 and end on April 3. Chaitra Navaratri 2020: Dos And Don'ts
- Try fasting for 9 days. Fasting cleanses the body.
- Prepare satvik food at your home even if you are not fasting.
- Do not eat garlic and onion during the nine days of Chaitra Navaratri.
- Beard or nails trimming, and hair cut to be avoided for the next 9 days.
- Meat and Alcohol should be completely avoided.
- Visit the Goddess Durga temple every day for 9 days.
- Offer pure water (shuddha Jal) to Goddess Durga every day.
- Akhand Diya should be lightened for 9 days. Make sure that it doesn' blow off.
- Avoid having sex for 9 days during Chaitra Navaratri.
