As Krishna Janmashtami is upon us lakhs of devotees continue to throng the temple town of Mathura to celebrate the festival. Braving heavy rainfall, they gather around Vrindavan or in Govardhan and Barsana to worship their beloved deity Lord Krishna.
Janmashtami is celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour across India every year. While celebrations throughout the country are mesmerising, few places, including Mathura, Gokul and Vrindavan continue to steal the attention on Janmashtami.
In Mathura, which is believed to be the birthplace of Sri Krishna, Radha Raman temple, Radha Damodar temple and Shah Ji Temple will celebrate Janmashtami all over the day. The main programme would be organised at Bhagwat Bhavan at Srikrishna Janmasthan, which will remain open for nearly two hours past midnight to facilitate pilgrims from across the globe.
With the festive atmosphere buzzing around, security has been tightened and police personnel in plain clothes have been deployed at major temples. On the other hand, pilgrims are requested to avoid carrying cameras, mobile phones and other gadgets inside the temple.
