New Delhi :
You must have heard of magnificent Churches around the world or may even have seen the tiring architecture of buildings around the world. But have you ever heard about a heel shaped glass Church? Yes, its true!
Taiwan in a bid to attract more women has built a 16m-high (55ft) glass church in the shape of a high-heeled shoe.
To build this giant glass shoe shaped Church over 320 tinted glass panels have been used. The blue building measures more than 10m (36ft) wide and costs about T$23m.
The Church reportedly will be used for as a venue and backdrop for couples’ pre-wedding photographs and will not hold any ceremonies.
The story of this shoe-shaped Church is inspired by a true story. Long back, an impoverished girl who suffered from blackfoot disease had too be amputated which led to the cancellation of her wedding. The girl spent rest of her life in a Church.
This high heel Church is built in the memory of that girl. The Church is set to open its doors to the public on 8 February, just in time for Chinese New Year.
The Church design has been in the highlights for quite sometime. Many women see this as objectification of their gender, while some also leapt to its defence saying that it looks better than most modern churches.
