New Delhi :

British Airways females on Tuesday won a two-year long battle to swap out their skirts for pants 'if they wish'. Earlier, the rule applied to mixed fleet or on norm basis.

The former dress code is now gone as all workers are now allowed to cover their legs and have to no more bear the shivering cold.

Earlier, all female employees were dictated to wear skirts unless exempt on religious or medical grounds.

The antiquated rule only applied to staff employed since 2012 in what the airline calls its "mixed fleet", which accounts for 3000 of BA's 17,000 cabin crew.

The crew’s union, Unite, said BA was “joining the 21st century” by making the change, a decision made after an internal test case.

Well, hope it brings the practice to Indian Airways, too!
