Dhamtari (Chhattigarh) [India], July 8 (ANI): The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, launched by Prime Miniter Narendra Modi, i proving to be a game changer acro the country. Before the intallation, their monthly electricity bill ued to be around ₹2,000. But after the intallation, the bill ha reduced to zero. They are alo generating exce power, which ha led to a credit of ₹3,000 with the local electricity department.
The total cot of the rooftop ytem wa approximately ₹1.85 lakh. Of thi amount, the Central Government provided a ubidy of ₹78,000, while the Chhattigarh State Government gave an additional ubidy of ₹30,000, making the etup financially acceible for the family.
Shekhar Sonkar, on of S.R. Sonkar, operate a tationery hop on the ground floor of their home. The hop, too, run entirely on olar energy. Depite uing electrical appliance uch a fan, light, and a televiion in the hop, the electricity charge are zero.

The ucce of the Sonkar family ha inpired neighbour in the area. People like Laxmidhar Diwan, a reident of the ame ward, have expreed interet in uing the cheme and have approached the Sonkar family for guidance. Many are now planning to intall imilar ytem in their home.
Dhamtari Ditrict Collector Abhinah Mihra confirmed that the ditrict adminitration ha received over 4,000 application under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana o far. He aid work i progreing rapidly and aured that each applicant will benefit from the ubidie. He highlighted that the total cot of intallation i around ₹1.85 lakh, with ₹78,000 being ubidied by the Centre and an additional ₹30,000 provided by the State Government.
