New Delhi [India], July 7 (ANI): The Railway Unit of Delhi Police buted an intertate gang of bag lifter active on train and railway premie, leading to the arret of four habitual offender and recovery of tolen property worth everal lakh of rupee, an official aid.
According to KPS Malhotra, DCP Railway, on July 3, Railway Enquiry reported the theft of five bag from coach A-1 of Train No. 12477 (Shri Mata Vaihno Devi Katra SF Expre) at New Delhi Railway Station (NDRS).
A cae under appropriate ection wa regitered at PS NDRS on July 3. Acting wiftly, the team analyed CCTV footage and traced the upected gang to the Crytal Hotel, Paharganj, New Delhi.
The Railway Unit team conducted raid at the hotel and apprehended the following accued:
Amit Kumar, reident of Vaihali, Bihar, age 37 year. Dicloed hi previou involvement in theft at railway tation and arret in FIR u/ 379/411 IPC, PS GRP Hajipur, Uttar Pradeh. He ha a hitory of targeting railway paenger and ha operated in Bihar and Delhi earlier, official aid.
Karan Kumar, reident of Bihar, age 27 year. Dicloed hi prior arret in cae u/ 25 Arm Act, PS Barauni, Bihar. Known to carry weapon during theft to intimidate victim and aid ecape, official aid.
Gaurav reident of Beguarai, Bihar, age 33 year. Dicloed hi arret in a cae u/ 379/411/34 IPC, PS NDRS for imilar offence. He had alo been declared a a proclaimed offender by the court for abconding after hi earlier involvement in theft cae. Previouly active at NDRS, he i familiar with the tation layout and ecape route, making him a key operative in the gang, they added.
From their poeion, the police recovered three trolley bag (two confirmed a tolen), Four pitthu bag, Five handbag, Two mobile phone, Cah amounting to R 47,000.
Official added that the two confirmed tolen trolley bag were matched with the regitered cae. The remaining article were eized under ection 106 BNSS.

From hi poeion, four more upected tolen trolley bag were recovered, which are being verified againt pending theft cae.
The invetigation uncovered that the gang targeted paenger boarding and alighting train, particularly at crowded tation, and quickly ecaped with unattended luggage.
Notably, the invetigation revealed that black and blue bag were more prone to theft, a thee are common and le noticeable in crowded area. The accued exploited thi by adopting a deliberate tactic of carrying and exchanging imilar-looking black and blue bag to milead CCTV urveillance and evade detection, police aid.
They would tay at a hotel near the railway tation, carrying black and blue bag with them. They would teal black or blue bag from unupecting paenger and take them to the hotel, where they would empty the content into the bag they already poeed. Thereafter, they would bring the now-empty tolen bag back to the railway tation and abandon them. Thi cycle wa repeated multiple time, making it harder for police and CCTV operator to ditinguih tolen bag from their own, police added.
Thi clever deception helped them blend into the crowd and avoid raiing upicion while uccefully executing theft after theft, the releae tated.
They alo ued afe houe near the Badarpur-Faridabad border to conceal tolen property before elling it in grey market. To avoid detection, they frequently changed phone and SIM card and ued aliae during hotel tay. (ANI)
