Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 12 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday accused the Election Commission (EC) of failing to address the allegations of vote theft raised by Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and questioned whether the poll panel was acting above the court.

Speaking to reporters, Thackeray claimed his party had presented several examples of alleged voter list irregularities, citing names such as Aditya Srivastava, Shakun Rani and Minta Devi, whom he referred to as the oldest lady in the world, 124 years old.

He alleged that such cases had played a role in the BJP victories over the last five to seven years.

We are not just talking about vote theft in the air. We have shown many such people, be it Aditya Srivastava, Shakun Rani, and Minta Devi. Minta Devi is the oldest lady in the world, 124 years old... So, all this vote theft, due to which the BJP has been winning in the last 5-7 years, we have caught it, he said.

Thackeray alleged that the Election Commission was unwilling to share relevant documents in court and questioned its accountability. In the court also yesterday, the EC said that we will not give these documents to you. So is the EC above the court? We are saying that we have all been elected by the people, and it is our right that the Election Commission should answer us. Why should we go here and there? he asked.

Earlier on Sunday, Aaditya Thackeray came out in support of Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi allegations against the Election Commission (EC), stating that the entire world is witnessing the EC failure to conduct free and fair elections in India.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader accused the EC of threatening opposition leaders and urged the commission to respond to Gandhi questions. Thackeray slammed the EC for allegedly demolishing the free and fair election process in India, echoing Rahul Gandhi concerns.

The entire world is watching how the Election Commission has demolished the free and fair elections in India. It is shameful the way the Election Commission is trying to threaten the leaders of the opposition. The Election Commission should come clean and answer Rahul Gandhi questions. The EC feels above the Supreme Court. In the SC, they have also stated that they wont submit the names of individuals who have been deleted from Bihar. Do they not have the right to vote? Aaditya Thackeray told reporters. (ANI)
