Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 7 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Miniter Bhupendra Patel ha directed that all damage to highway, a well a rural and urban road, caued by heavy monoon rain, be repaired on a priority bai and retored to their original condition without delay, the Chief Miniter Office (CMO) aid in a pre releae.
In a high-level meeting, the Chief Miniter emphaied that road network--crucial for development and daily public tranportation--mut not remain damaged due to heavy rainfall, and that immediate repair hould be undertaken to enure their continued operation. He held a meeting in Gandhinagar with enior official from the relevant department to review the current tatu of national highway, tate highway, and road under the purview of panchayat in rural area, town, and metropolitan citie.
In the meeting, CM Bhupendra Patel tated that road and bridge repair, including patchwork, hould not be delayed awaiting the end of rainfall. He emphaied that not a ingle day with no or minimal rainfall hould go to wate, and that repair work mut continue even on holiday in the interet of the public. He further tated that in cae where damage occur or repair are required within the Defect Liability Period, the reponibility mut be fixed on the contractor, and appropriate action hould be taken. He alo treed the importance of enuring the quality of all repair and contruction work.
Municipal Commiioner of the State Municipal Corporation joined the meeting via video conference. CM Patel intructed that urgent repair work hould be undertaken in metropolitan area wherever iue like damaged road, underpae, or waterlogging exit, to retore normalcy in urban environment at the earliet. Not only that, the Chief Miniter alo uggeted that long-term olution mut be planned and implemented to reolve uch urban iue permanently.
He further directed that repair work mut be carried out through coordinated effort among NHAI, the Road and Building Department, Panchayat, Municipalitie, and Municipal Corporation, enuring effective teamwork and inter-agency collaboration. He tated that iue uch a water accumulation on road due to rainfall, damage to bridge, culvert, caueway, and aphalt road mut be immediately addreed with urgency.
For thi purpoe, the Chief Miniter intructed that whenever the 24x7 Control Room operating at Nirman Bhavan in Gandhinagar receive information, the concerned uperintendent, executive, or deputy engineer mut immediately viit the ite and enure proper repair arrangement are made.
During the meeting, a detailed preentation wa made before the Chief Miniter on the current condition of road, bridge, and highway acro the tate, with comprehenive data provided by the Road and Building Department. It wa informed that mot of the affected area are already witneing progre in tructural and bridge repair work, with diverion management and continuou monitoring in place at around 243 bridge currently undergoing uch repair.
Regarding the condition of highway, official from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) briefed the Chief Miniter that 83 kilometre of national highway had utained damage during thi year monoon, out of which repair work ha already been completed on 58 kilometre, and the remaining 25 kilometre will be completed hortly.
CM Patel reiterated that the State Government i fully committed to enuring that citizen do not face diruption in daily life due to delay in road repair, and that all work mut be carried out on time with aured quality tandard. He further directed the concerned department to immediately begin repair work to meet public expectation effectively.
Thi high-level meeting wa attended by Chief Secretary Pankaj Johi, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Miniter Avantika Singh, Advior S S Rathore, Urban Development Principal Secretary Thennaraan, Secretary to the Chief Miniter Dr Vikrant Pandey, Road and Building Secretary Prabhat Pateliya, and other enior official.
