Gurugram police detains 10 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, initiates deportation

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], July 26 (ANI): Gurugram Police on Saturday detained ten Bangladeshi nationals who were found to be living illegally in the city, according to police officials.

Identification documents recovered from them confirmed their Bangladeshi nationality.

Sandeep Kumar, PRO of Gurugram Police, said, Ten illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been detained. Bangladeshi documents have been recovered from them. The process to deport them has begun.

Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday condemned the detention of Bengali-speaking Muslim citizens across the country, labelling them as illegal while accusing the police administration of targeting them since they couldnt challenge police atrocities.

He said that those being labelled as illegal immigrants are the poorest of the poor, who are mostly slum-dwellers and work as domestic workers and rag-pickers. Owaisi argued that they were being targeted repeatedly because they couldnt challenge police atrocities.

He stated that there have been reports of Indian citizens being pushed into Bangladesh at gunpoint.
