Kerala: SFI activists protesting against Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Kerala University detained

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], July 8 (ANI): Police detained Student Federation of India (SFI) activit proteting againt Kerala Governor Rajendra Vihwanath Arlekar at the premie of Kerala Univerity on Tueday.
The tudent entered the premie of Kerala Univerity a they proteted againt Governor Rajendra Arlekar, alleging the affroniation of univeritie.
The police tried to bring the ituation under control a the tudent entered the univerity premie. The viual howed police official with protective gear detaining the SFI activit while the protetor were een loganeering.
Communit Party of India (Marxit) MLA MV Govindan alo arrived at the Univerity campu.
The row began when SFI oppoed the ue of a picture of Bharat Mata in an event at Kerala Univerity.
The protetor were alo agitated regarding the upenion of Vice Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal. On July 2, the Governor appointed Ciza Thoma, Vice Chancellor of Kerala Digital Univerity, a the Vice Chancellor-in-Charge of the Univerity of Kerala.
Sharing an X pot, Governor Arlekar wrote, Honble Governor a Chancellor ha ordered that Dr. Ciza Thoma, VC, Kerala Digital Univerity, hall exercie power & perform dutie of Vice Chancellor, Univerity of Kerala, in addition to her normal dutie from 3rd to 8th July 2025, during the abence of Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal.
Lat month, SFI activit proteted againt the order in Kunnur Univerity, forming a pecial committee to monitor univerity programme for alleged anti-national content following trong oppoition from yndicate member. The order wa later withdrawn due to the oppoition.
Tenion erupted outide the univerity adminitration office during a yndicate meeting, with the SFI activit taging a protet holding banner that read, Thi i not a branch; thi i a univerity. The proteter attempted to barge into the office, triggering a brief commotion.
The majority of yndicate member voiced oppoition to Vice Chancellor K K Saju directive, prompting the V-C to announce it withdrawal during the meeting. (ANI)
